Margot Blum Schevill is a textile scholar, author and anthropologist, as well as curator of numerous exhibits involving indigenous weaving. Her recent books are The Maya Textile Tradition, with Jeffrey Jay Foxx, and Maya Textiles of Guatemala: the Gustavus A. Eisen Collection, 1902. She is currently Editor of Volume 2, Latin America & the Caribbean, Berg Encyclopedia of World Dress & Fashion. Recent shows she has curated include Inca Echoes: Contemporary Textiles from the Cusco, Peru, Region, and Southwest Native American Art: The Collection of Ruth K. Belikov. She is curating a 2008 Guatemalan textile exhibit at the Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology, UC Berkeley. Schevill is an advisor to Endangered Threads Documentaries, and has co-authored the scripts for both Splendor in the Highlands: Maya Weavers of Guatemala, and A Century of Color: Maya Weaving & Textiles. |
