Endangered Threads Documentaries - educational documentaries recording endangered indigenous art forms
Lucas Pastor weighs bundles of tied yarn prior to immersion in a dye vat to produce patterned yarn to be woven into ikat or jaspe (local term) yardage for Maya women's skirts. Yarn beneath the tightly tied knots does not absorb the dye. When the dyed yarn is woven by a skilled floor loom weaver, the intricate patterns emerge. Pastor's dye workshop is located in Salcajá, Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. Photo by Cheryl Guerrero 2005.

Like most nonprofits, Endangered Threads Documentaries could not produce educational documentaries without the enormous contributions of donors and volunteers.  If you are interested in helping with any phase of our work, please contact us.
